The national Cancer Vanguard, of which Greater Manchester Cancer Vanguard Innovation is a part, has been awarded £6.9milion of new funding.
This will allow us to continue working on our projects for a further year as we test out new and better ways of delivering cancer care in Greater Manchester and east Cheshire.
Richard Preece, Executive Lead for Quality, Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership, said: ‘The Vanguard activities are an important part of our overall Cancer Plan in Greater Manchester which will be published in early 2017.
‘Today’s announcement is a welcome endorsement of the innovative work here that will improve cancer care and outcomes for our population.
‘Prevention and early diagnosis of cancer is key to improving outcomes and we expect people in Greater Manchester will see some key activities being implemented within the next 12 months.’
