25th September 2015:

Greater Manchester’s successful application to pilot a new model of cancer care was announced today by NHS England Chief Executive Simon Stevens as part of the NHS Vanguard programme.

Formed from a close alliance with partners including The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Trafford Clinical Commissioning Group, Devolution Manchester and Healthier Together, the Greater Manchester Cancer Vanguard aims to improve clinical outcomes and the patient experience for Greater Manchester by establishing a single cohesive system provider for cancer services.

By combining our knowledge, expertise and capabilities, we are confident we can create a cancer network that gives patients earlier diagnosis and reduces the variations in the quality, efficiency and cost of care.
